SC Daniel Horry Colonel SC Light Dragoons 1779 1780 Feb 1779, Colonel/Commandant of the newly-created SC Light Dragoons (State Troops) for 16 Months. After the Fall of Charleston, he took protection from the British, and in 1781, he sailed to England where he enrolled his son in school. The SC legislature considered confiscating his estates, but his in-laws, the Pinckneys, intervened and the legislature settled for an amercement of twelve percent. SC Peter Horry Major SC 2nd Regiment 1776 1780 Promoted to Major 9/16/1776. Promoted to Lt. Colonel in Jan 1780 and Commander of SC 5th Regiment. Regiment disbanded on February 1780, he was sent home. After Fall of Charleston, went to NC with Marion in July 1780. In Col. Archibald McDonald's Kingstree Regiment 1780-1781. Feb. 1781, he was authorized his own troops - Horry's Light Dragoons (militia). Oct. 1781, Marion authorized to raise 2 regiments of SC State Troops, Horry commanded the SC 4th Regiment of State Dragoons.

SC Hugh Horry Lt Col Berkeley County Regiment 1776 1780 1776, promoted to Lt. Colonel under Col. Joseph Maybank, then Col. James Skirving. At the Fall of Charleston, but not captured. Some sources assert he was in the Lower Craven County Regiment after the Fall of Charleston under Col. Hugh Giles. However, most other sources assert that he led Col. Archibald McDonald's Kingstree Regiment while McDonald was on parole after the Fall of Charleston. When McDonald was exchanged in early 1781, he rejoined Col. Richard Richardson, Jr., who was also exchanged at the same time as McDonald, and who took over the Berkeley County Regiment. Lt. Col. Hugh Horry was wounded at the battle of Eutaw Springs. SC Peter Horry Lt Col SC 5th Regiment 1780 1782 Promoted to Major 9/16/1776. Promoted to Lt. Colonel in Jan 1780 and Commander of SC 5th Regiment. Regiment disbanded in February 1780, he was sent home. After Fall of Charleston, went to NC with Marion in July 1780. In Col. Archibald McDonald's Kingstree Regiment 1780-1781 while McDonald was awaiting exchange. Feb. 16, 1781, ordered to create his own battalion of Light Horse units from five existing regiments - called Horry's Light Dragoons. Wounded at the battle of Eutaw Springs. Oct. 1781, Marion authorized to raise two new regiments of SC State Troops, Horry commanded the SC 4th Regiment of State Dragoons. In March of 1782, this unit was disbanded due to heavy losses at the battles of Wambaw Bridge and Tidyman's Plantation, and the few men left were transferred to Maham's SC 3rd Regiment of State Dragoons. Lt. Col. Peter Horry was given command of Georgetown, but he soon resigned for good and went home.
